Chocolate Tiffin

Rich and chocolatey tiffin with a sweet biscuit base and chocolate top. No baking required!

Ingredients

  • 150g butter
  • 3 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 3 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 6 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 225g digestive biscuits, crushed
  • 100g milk chocolate, chopped
  • 150g dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking tin (20cm x 20cm) and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan, bring water to a simmer and place a heatproof bowl on top.
  3. Melt the butter, caster sugar, golden syrup, and cocoa powder together in the bowl, stirring until smooth.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed digestive biscuits with the melted chocolate mixture.
  5. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking tin, pressing down firmly to create an even layer.
  6. In the heatproof bowl, melt the milk and dark chocolate together until smooth.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate over the biscuit base, spreading evenly.
  8. Leave to cool for 30 minutes at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set. For best results, leave overnight.
  9. Once set, remove from the tin and cut into 16 squares.

Tips

  • Use a mix of milk and dark chocolate for a richer taste
  • Leave to refrigerate overnight for the tiffin to set completely
  • Use a double boiler to melt ingredients gently and avoid burning
